I went here on my lunch break and it did not disappoint! I always judge a sushi place on their raw fish and Z Sushi was solid. The service was attentive, the fish was fresh and the restaurant was nice and clean. I also ordered the Salmon Skin Roll and the Crunch Roll which were both great. I def recommend this spot to other sushi lovers and will for sure be coming back!

It's crazy how this restaurant has been around and I've passed by everyday going to work, yet had never eaten here. After seeing someone posted it on SGV, my husband and I decided to come here for our date night.
Since it was our first time and we always tended to order more than what we can eat, we tried our best to control ourselves for once. We ordered two deluxe chirashi bowl and one mixed tempura to share, plus two hot tea. The chirashi bowl didn't look too big but we were so full we could hardly finish the everything. Ok, not everything, I couldn't finish all the rice and I felt so bad. :(
The food were good. Service was attentive. A little bit too attentive as we had three different servers checking on us before we ordered, after we ordered, and tried to take our orders. Hahaha We plan to try the omakase the next time we visit.
Funny side story, it was my niece's birthday the next day and my husband wanted to get her a pen. Which we planned to go to Target after dinner. Then when we got our bill, it came with a pretty looking pen to sign. It's a simple pen with a giant "diamond" on the top. As we were heading out, my husband asked if we can buy one from them. One of the staffs told us it's sold on Amazon but we only needed one and it's for the next day. So another staff went to check the in the back and they did have a few available for us to choose from. A few dollar well spent and that saved us a trip to Target. That was very very nice of them!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Liquid J.Los Angeles, Stati Uniti730127130 giu 2022Recensione aggiornata
Change in ownership changed the menu.
Still a decent place, but if you are expecting the same dishes, you will be disappointed.
My standard Katsu Bento was lacking tempura (my favorite) and included a fried price of fish and some sauteed broccoli.
Lunch was $$17.64 before tip with the odor of In N Out in the distance....that would have bought me lunch twice.
Proceed with caution.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 021 gen 2022Recensione precedenteI've witnessed an alarming trend over the past few years: Americans are becoming increasingly obsessed with sushi. And I call bullshit. My hypothesis is that not many people legitimately like sushi, but lots of people think that they should like sushi.
I dont eat sushi, but I do eat all the cooked Japanese dishes. The difference between an ordinary plated lunch and a bento is the one-box presentation. Most bento are meant to be a single complete meal for one person. Serving sizes at Z Sushi and food selections are worth a visit.
My typical Japanese meal consists of a bowl of rice, a bowl of miso soup, , pickled vegetables, and grilled or fried meat. Z Sushi provided me with all neatly presented and in portions that left me satisfied. The tempura alone is worth a visist!
Find your way to Z Sushi, and enjoy all.the foods beyond sushi. - 14 giu 2021
I preface this review by saying we initially planned on going to Kiku Sushi located in Monrovia. But we decided to just stick a little closer to home.
Item's ordered:
The gf quickly decided she wanted the Deluxe Chirashi (of course) & I thought I'd be getting one of those combo bentos where you can select two items like most sushi places have. Unfortunately, that option is available only at lunch so I just got the Teriyaki Chicken dinner.
Taste:
First up as usual was the miso soups & salads. The miso soup was fine, it's pretty much the same at these types of places. I do like the addition of the fried tofu which is not common in miso soup. Salads were quite good & I enjoyed the dressing which tasted like a miso creamy ginger flavor. The addition of crispy wontons kinda serving as croutons worked out well.
Honestly as soon as they brought over the gf's Deluxe Chirashi my first thought was it was probably the smallest version I've seen of it compared to other places. She really liked it though & very much enjoyed how they topped it with uni. The fish fresness was definitely there.
The Chicken Teriyaki came out on one of those sizzling hot plates which makes for nice presentation & hot food which is good. I've gotta say it's probably the best teriyaki chicken I've had at a sushi place. The chicken was cooked well, not dry at all, with just a little char. The sauce was quite good too. It just had more fuller flavor & nice balance of savory & sweet. It was good portion of meat & I would have liked a little more veggies along with it.
One major critique, at least for me is how this place does NOT let you order the mixed combo bento at dinner time. It's only for lunch. It just seems so random & limiting since this is the only place I've seen do this. Most other similar places usually have the same options for lunch & dinner, but just charge more at dinner.
Service & parking:
The service was very friendly & attentive with no problems at all. They checked our temps at the door (covid-19 problems) & sat us immediately. I should mention it was a Monday night though.
Parking is very easy in their moderately sized lot. Even if there lot is full it should not be hard to find a spot in the residential area not far off.
Being that the place is pretty close by I suppose I would return here but mainly because it's the gf who is a sushi addict. But I'd probably do lunch for the combo bento option.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 46939615696 mag 2021
I can't believe I haven't wrote a review for Z Sushi. It's my favorite sushi place in Alhambra. Back then exiting this parking lot is a hassle. I see that they put a sign to not block the entry way and it helps.
Again, I prefer early dinner to avoid the crowd. Once I sat down, customers came in and it's almost a full house with social distancing of course. I appreciate being acknowledged and greeted when I came in and left after dinner. I was seated in the back room. It was my first time sitting in that section and I like it since it's away from everyone.
The waiters and waitresses here are nice and attentive. I ordered a few things as shown in photos below. There isn't a single bad dish here. My favorite is salmon carpaccio and I ordered this often.
I know it's probably funny that I like to order Shirley temple from here but it brings back memory since high school days. I don't see it on the menu anymore though.
I also ordered salmon skin roll for To go. I can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu. I had a great time here as always.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 10 ott 2020
Pre-Covid review.
What's up: It was lunch time and we were in the mood for sushi! The last time I came here, we had a good experience, but this time... not so much.
Parking: They have a small private lot with one entrance/exit on Garfield Ave. The spots are labeled as Head In Parking only.
Environment: Once you walk in, you'll be greeted by the staff members. To your right, you'll see the alcohol bar. In front, you'll see the sushi bar where. To the left, is table seating. Service was extremely slow. Food took a long time to arrive; we asked them to check on our order a few times before it actually came. We also had to flag down the staff members before they stopped by our table to check up on us.
What was ordered: I ordered the Lunch Special: Sushi and Sashimi Bento. The miso soup was light and the salad was tasty. The sushi/sashimi was decent. If you do a Yelp Check In (one per table), you get a free appetizer: Fried Salmon Dumpling.
Yay/Nay/Meh: Nay. The food was ok, nothing memorable. The service was poor and disappointing; it was not as good as what I experienced in the past. I will probably try out other sushi places before I come back here again. Credit cards are accepted.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tean L.Pasadena, Stati Uniti1737319312 lug 2022
(I believe this establishment is changing their name to Wa Sushi and Izakaya)
Food is not what it use to be, the portions are very small and not up to par. There's plenty of sushi places near by that are much better in price, taste, and portion sizes. They have a parking lot in front but the location is kind of awkward and you can easily miss it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 27 ago 2019
This place is one of my favorite sushi spots in Alhambra. Their fish is very fresh, the customer service is fantastic, and their prices are very fair.
We ordered a variety of things but the items that stuck out the most to me were the halibut, the spicy scallop handroll (so delicious), and the salmon carpaccio. Everything was so yummy, and there were so many different options to select from.
The waitresses stopped by frequently to make sure that our waters were filled, and were very attentive and polite. Their tempura was also very good - it was fried fresh to order, and their tempura dipping sauce was light and flavorful.
Even their ice cream dessert was incredible - we got black sesame and matcha, and it was so creamy and flavorful. Can't wait to come back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dan O.Alhambra, Stati Uniti10572211 nov 2021
